South Africans have been further enraged when TW tried to compare herself to Mandela

After The Cut interview, TW made reference to someone allegedly claiming that South Africans rejoiced in the streets when she married Harry, and compared it to the celebrations when Nelson Mandela was freed. This has not been received well by the South Africans as #VoetsekMeghan continues.

Mandela’s grandson has openly criticised such a comparison, and South Africans have stated that it was not true. Obviously this is part of TW’s narrative, but it has backfired and created more hostility.

The tragedy in all this is that many of us warned the Royal Family of such an outcome and they failed to act and prevent such harms. Yes, these are harms as they insult cultures and nations and turn people against each other. You can’t fix this kind of damage overnight, where relations have taken decades and generations to build. The Royal Family failed, and they continue to fail the People by choosing to turn a blind eye to the destruction around them that they have enabled.
